This is Arthur Dent. He is a descendent of apes who lives, or rather lived, on the inconveniently placed 3rd planet orbiting the sun in an insignificant solar system. He is having a bad day. |
This is his friend, Ford Prefect. He is not descendent from apes. In fact, he is not from Earth at all. He is a freelance writer for the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy (or at least, he hopes to be). |
This is Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz. It is his job to remove obstacles to galactic progress, such as that insignificant planet Earth, after processing all the required forms, of course. He writes poetry in his spare time. You can enjoy some of his verse here. |
This is Trillian. She met Arthur Dent at a party once, but went home with someone else. Despite infinitely improbable odds, they met again on a space ship after the Earth was destroyed. |
This is Zaphod Beeblebrox, inventor of the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster and former President of the Galaxy. He stole a space ship powered by an Infinite Improbability Drive. He took Trillian away from a party once, despite his only having one head at the time. |
This is Marvin the Android. He was designed by the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation with GPP (Genuine People Personalities). He has a brain the size of a planet, but he doesn't have job satisfaction, which depresses him quite a bit. |
This is Slartibartfast, a Magrathean designer of planets, famous for his invention of fjords. He shares with Arthur archival footage of Deep Thought's Search for the Ultimate Answer which is connected to Earth's fate. |
